Subject: IH 88 Series - Need Help?

NE Iowa
I bought an IH 5088 tractor last week. It has 3 hydraulic remotes. One has the original 88 series large couplers on the back and the other 2 were converted to Pioneer. I went to hook it up to the manure spreader and use the Pioneer couplers and can't get the one hose attached. I assume that moving the lever forward in the cab puts it in float. I tried hooking it up with the tractor running and with it shut off. There is no pressure in the hoses of what I'm trying to hook up but it seems like there is pressure behind the tractor coupler. I tried hooking it up with someone else working the cab lever and no matter what I did I can't seem to get the pressure released enough to get it coupled. Is there some trick to release this pressure that I'm missing?
