Subject: Beans and hail

Hazelton, Kansas
All,

Question for the NAT Brain Trust.

Will these beans go ahead and fill?

They were hailed on Wednesday afternoon. Just looking, it appears to me that they lost well over half of their leaf area. A few pods on the ground. They were nearly finished blooming, and were starting to fill.

Particulars: Asgrow 3931, air seeded (10") in mid-May at ~80,000 seeds/ac. After the hail, they are maybe 2' tall.

We would normally harvest them roughly Oct 1. Will the hail speed that up or slow it down?

The second pic is an isolated plant; they aren't all podded that well. But it shows the amount of leaf loss.

Thanks in advance.

MDS
