Geese are amazing creatures..........

We have about 4 acres of lawn behind the house.  Gotten a little rough over the years.....not the best of soils...........and since I don't give a rat's rear end about lawns........I have never done anything about it.

Decided to broadcast a bushel of cereal rye/A the other day......let the "oncoming" rain take it in, and get some roots working.

Have not had any geese there for over 30 years........

and this morning 16 were chewing the rye.

I find it amazing that they could see that rye seed from as high as they fly........what other explanation could it be?  jungle warning system?

And, of course, the old Black Lab stood at the top of the hill, and merely watched.....

......letting the neighbor's pup finally chase away those "creatures".

(Maybe he was just planning his attack, and the pup beat him to it??)
