Subject: JD 7-00 Trans input shaft fix? Pics

PE

Rebuilt the pto in my 7200 and figured I might as well tackle the input shaft while I have the tractor sidelined.

Found there to be play in the shaft and pulled it off the tractor. My 7200 has a male splined yoke and female input on the transmission. I ordered the new yoke\shaft and will be in Wednesday. I am thinking about adding onto the shaft similar to what Bubbaspb did in this thread.

My female input shaft is wore and I was hoping to extend the new male shaft in past the worn area to help. Time wise, how long does it take to pull off the trans front cover and replace the damaged input? I am guessing it will take me about 4 hours to slide the engine ahead to allow room for the longer male yoke shaft. If the trans cover requires similar amount of labor I will just pull it off and do the job right.

Thoughts?
