Subject: dry fertilizer applicator question

North Central Kansas
Why are more spinners sold vs pull behind air spreaders like the side dress air max unit in the classifieds?
It looks like avg price for a pull behind is $20,000. Yes some more, lot less, but avg. If you going to buy a new one you are prob going to budget that 20k range
And then for the air pull unit is 38k.
yes, that's 18k more. But isnt the quality of the spread worth that?
local elevator is $5.50 an acre
$20,000 / 5.5 = 3,636.36 acres and paid. (/1200 for me = 3.03 years paid)
$38,000 / 5.5 = 6,909 acres and paid (/1200 acres for me = 5.75 years paid)

Yes you can go a step further and get it where it puts in ground. But thats another conversation, for a different matter. I am talking simply top dressing by spinners, or air tractor pulled air unit.

tks
