West central IL | Not sure how prevalent these critters are around the Midwest. Here in west central Illinois they showed up about ten years ago. Since then some years are bad and some are terrible. It's a ritual now for anyone outside in late spring into summer to make sure they've got vanilla, Buggins, or some kind of repellent with them before venturing outside.
I've got yard chickens and the gnats really pester them. I keep fans on them but I'm wondering if anyone has had luck treating their yard with some kind of chemical that would knock these nasty creatures out? I don't want to get too crazy with the chickens and also kids who love playing in the yard. Appreciate any ideas! | |
