SC IA | Is there any research and data available looking into this? I have a field of corn that was corn 2 years ago and still has a LOT of residue left, meanwhile across the road we had 200-225 bushel corn and leafy hybrids in places and it looks like we baled the stalks last fall (it hasn't been touched). Both farms were sod for several years with high OM (5-7%) and hardly any NH3 used. Only difference was farm with lot of residue had fungicide last time it had corn. It's not a huge deal I guess but just curious if we're getting rid of a lot of beneficial fungi spraying the stuff as well. Would seeding a cover afterwards help boost the fungi back or applying some sugar somewhere? | |
