Subject: GIS mapping software...What brands to look at

I'm browsing for different GIS software to use. My requirements are very simple. The program will store clients fields boundaries and soil type maps. It has to be able to import SHP files as well. I want Ag Leader SMS style Grower-Farm-Field style management. So you can see I'm not asking for a lot. I just curious what software programs out there meet that requirement? For heavy GIS work I use ArcMap and QGIS, but those don't provide the good enough data management that I need for this purpose.

What complicates the situation and reason I am shying away from SMS(and I really love the program for personal use) is that I need a multiple simultaneous user system that can run on our server with remote access. SMS will work but gets kind of costly under this scenario unfortunately. I'm curious what other brands our out there that I should investigate that meet my basic data management needs?
