Subject: Trencher boom for Case 860/960?

Mid-Missouri
I have an 860 Turbo Case trencher. It works good, but has too long of a boom. It can likely dig 7+feet. At most, I can lay a 6" corrugated tile in the trench. It digs 8" wide. Price Bros in Wichita are real knowledgeable with these and said a shorter boom would dig much quicker, even at the same cutting depth. They also said side extenders can be added to increase trench width up to 16".Furthermore, the chain on the machine is 4.11" pitch, which is very overkill for not working in rocks or frost. Does anyone have experience with widening these somewhere between 8 and 16"? Also, anyone aware of a salvage yard for such items as trencher boom for these, as mine is much too long. Worst case scenerio, I can cut some out to shorten it, but would rather purchase separate boom.
