Subject: What a waste of 2"x6" lumber.

NW Iowa. / SW Arizona
I was at a lumber retail store last night picking up some material. As I was picking up my material I noticed two employees cutting up what looked like good 16' lengths of 2"x6" lumber into about 30-36" chunks and putting them into pallet cages. I asked them why they were cutting them up and one of the guys said they being shipped somewhere to be chipped up and made into OSB board. Before they cut them they would eye each one I assume to see how straight they were. I didn't see them saving any of them and this was a large stack of 2x6's they were destroying. I have no idea how crooked they were but it looks to me like they would be better off cutting them in half and selling them at 8' pieces, even if they were crooked. What a waste.

I don't care to mention the lumber company but it's one of the major ones and I'm sure you can guess which one it was anyway.
