Subject: wifi farm yard tranzeo style

Where Lewis and Clark finished the rum
Well, finally bit bullet and set up Tranzeo 6600 as WAP in house with Wildblue. Used CPQ's in the yard - up to 800 ft away and have a rock solid connection. I know this was overkill for the yard, cuz my nephew opened his laptop in the "far" end (away from WAP) of the house 800 ft away and was able to hook to the WAP! Not bad. So will be interesting to see just how far away we can pick up signal, with just little antenna.

Next hop will be about 1.6 mi LOS (line of sight) from this omni, about 30 ft in the air to a directional, about 20 ft in the air.

Abandoned the DLink 2100's I'd borrowed and tried to make workin the yard. They're 40 mwatt without being hacked. These Tranzeo's are pretty darned cool - they're 400 mwatt out of the box! And essentially no coax line loss, cuz the radio is outside on the antenna mast.

MAKE SURE TO GROUND STUFF!!!!!!
