Subject: JD 9600 Variable Speed Cylinder question -EDITED

I just replaced the hydraulic cylinder/actuator on the variable speed cylinder drive on my '91 9600. The cylinder was leaking oil and not holding the cylinder speed. There was a complete update/replacement for the hydraulic cylinder because JD changed the actuator arrangement. My question is, do I need to put grease into the middle of the sheave? The old actuator had a half moon groove cut into the actuator to accept the pin, but the new arrangement doesn't. It looks to me like the pin will move on the end of the actuator, and could use some grease, but no instructions were given. I've got a call into one of the service technicians who is a neighbor, but I don't know when he will get back.

Thanks

I figured it out, as long as there is no slippage of the sheaves relative to each other, the two parts will turn together, so no problem.
