Subject: 1680 in corn

Elkmont, AL
I am getting ready to start shelling corn next week. I have a new to me 1680, and the beater door is spring loaded (rice machine), I am used to the conventional grain beater door that has two positions corn and grain. Do I need to loosen the springs or will it be alright to run it as it is. Also I am used to using standard rotor for corn, the 1680 has a specialty rotor with rice spikes the full length, large wire concaves and keystock grates. What would be a good starting point, I dont want to add any straight seperator bars or spend any money, because all I have is about 140 acres of 100bu or less corn to shell. Will I have a bin full of cob?
