Give me some encouragement and advice.  I have a 1981 Honda 400 cm.  Having problems last year with starting.  It seemed to be carb related as I had spark in the plugs but had lots of backfires when starting and one time it would start fully choked next time no choke at all.  Sat in garage all winter and fast forward to this spring.  Turned the gas valve on and had gas leaking out around the bowl and still can't get it to start.  Decided that the carb probably needs work.  Since it is just my secondary transporation and I have little engine experience I thought I would tackle taking the carbs off and re-building.  I do have service manual and it appears that some you tube videos exist.  Should I do it?  Worst case I trailer the damn thing to the mechanic or maybe just take the carbs over if I get stuck.  Thoughts?  Advise and tips?
