Subject: height switch on 1770

Dix (Boyd), IL
I have a 1780 (12-23) planter wired for GS2 and Swath Control to operate my half-width disconnect cultches. I just got a 1770nt (16r-30") corn planter. I'm wanting to wire ir to tie into my rate controller harness. (I just have on controller, and I keep it mounted on my tractor, and I'll use the same tractor for both planters for now). I have not yet bought a height switch to attach to the parallel arm. Instead, I was wandering if anyone has tried using the button switch behind the wing wheel cylinder that toggles the markers. Would this work? I haven't even messed with the planter enough to know if this switch is open with the planter is up and stays closed when it is down (while planting) Any ideas? or am I just trying to be too cheap?
