I have fields that are pivot irrigated but the corners are not. Say I have two rates programmed into the 450
1. for 160 units N
2. for 130 units N
I want to catch a set of rows using rate 1 (irrigated part) but switch to rate 2 in field once I reach the "dryland" corner.
Can I do this with the 450?

If I understand your question correct, yes you can switch between rate 1 and rate 2 anytime that you want on the go. The problem I have is when I see a spot I want to switch rates on I forget to switch it back. Good memory not very long.

Yes, you would have the ability to switch from Rate 1 to Rate 2 at anytime. This process could be "automated" by the use of a third party box or a different Raven controlled that would change these rates based on a map.

There are several third party devices that could do this with a serial 450. By serial, I mean that the 450 has the 9 pin computer type plug in on the back. The early 450's did not have this but this feature has been available for the last several years.

The third party box could be a laptop, ipaq type device, an Ag Leader product or several others. This additional box is connected to GPS so that it "knows" where it is and sends over different rates for different places based on a prescription which has been created beforehand.

Raven has other consoles which have this ability built in to them also.
