SC Iowa | several weeks ago I made the statement that I was willing to wait until the Dec14/July15 corn spread got to 33-34 cents OR November 1, whichever came first...
well, the spread has not hit the number and rests around 28 cents tonight
some things have changed, notably a lack of space issues in several parts of the western cornbelt that expected to see corn on the ground.......is it smaller crop, better planning, extended harvest?? Likely won't know the real answer to that for some time...
but in the meantime, if you are running a hedge account so you can move the position as needed, I probably would be willing to roll hedges to the July or put on the Dec/July bullspread if you have no futures position... (that would be buying the Dec and selling the July to capture the 28 cent carry)
