Subject: Mare's tail clouds and upcoming weather.

NW Iowa. / SW Arizona
I was talking to an older gentleman yesterday outside and he looked up at the sky and made a comment on the clouds. He called them Mare's tail clouds and said it was going to be windy and stormy the next day. I asked him to explain and he said his grandfather years ago in the late 30's told him that if there was Mare's tail clouds that day the next day it's going to be windy and stormy. I had never heard of that old wife's tale before.

I googled it this morning and it does talk about Mare's tail clouds (Cirrus cloud) and it does say that within 36 hours of seeing these type of clouds bad weather is coming. Our weather today calls for wind and a high probability of severe storms for later today and tonight.

Am I the only one that's never heard of this old saying before? By the way it's windy this morning, sure hope the bad weather doesn't show up later today.
