Subject: Difference in colleges

East central Iowa

Relative did a calculus course at the local community college.  I think that's the current term.  He then went to a state University and took their  first semester calculus class.  The next year he gave up his deans scholarship and changed to a different state University and took their second semester calculus .

He said the community college was a convenient way for people to pass some required courses but he didn't feel it prepared you for classes that required hard math or science.  He also was surprised at the first University's calculus class being easier than the second University's calculus as the first one described its first semester calculus class as a weed out program while the second just considered its calculus a regular class.

I don't know if this is of value to anyone but it suggests that a prospective student research not only the college but contact graduates and get their opinions.
