south east Indiana | Finally got the ewes shorn Friday. Only 2 months after our first shearing date. lol Took some before, during and after photos for everyone. Meant to get a photo of the wool bag and didn't, it was a long busy day. One job I really look forward to having finished each year. Picked up some new ewes, they are Dorset and Dorset /Isle de France crosses bred to a Dorset ram for the most part. Three big girls in the bunch that may be Montadales, they have North Country in them for sure. The previous owner lost his leased pasture so I took all 19. A K Bar K Dorset ram came with the deal so looking forward to using him next year. My border collies are going to be tested getting the girls in line with the program. Blu is up for the challenge since he has been around the block a time of two, he doesn't take much crap and a well placed nip usually is convincing. This is Scott, he is only 3 and not quite sure why the sheep are stomping at him some but he will figure it out in a session or two.
Of course it is cold here today 32 and windy, might even snow tonight, doubt the girls are real happy with me taking their winter coats.
