Western Iowa | I had a calf born on Saturday. Mom is a heifer, did good, nice calf, good vigor. Mom is very attentive, but seems to be lacking milk. Had very little when she calved, tubed the calf that day. Day 2 calf seemed hungry so let it drink off of wifes milk cow. Day 3 seemed ok. Day 4 feed it a bottle because it seemed hungry and it drank a quart.
The mom seems to be bagging up a little more, and for sure has more bag then day one. Am I wasting my time? Will she increase milk much or is she a lost cause? I have never had this before but I am fairly new to cows so some expert advice would be great! | |
