Driftless SW Wisconsin

Looks like good feed to me! Put up some electric wire and put some calves in there.

We have a lot of unharvested corn around here in SW WI that was just too wet to combine in the fall.  With all the snow I don't know when or if it will be combined. Ground may turn from iceberg to mudhole overnight.

What are your plans for this corn?

Jim

I fall calve jim,  I weaned calves 6 weeks ago and my last Stalk feed just about ran out i was feeding the cows corn silage and ground hay in tire bunks at the field .

We ran a mile of hotwire around this field today and moved the cows in tonight :)    life is good it was a lovely 75f today perfect for working your tail off outside .

Should be great for the fall calved cows! That corn should let them put on some condition after weaning.

At least you didn't need snowshoes to pound posts...  I know what you mean. Nice to see cows out on the corn after all that work. Bet you won't have any trouble sleeping tonight after a mile of posts.

Sure would like to see pics of the cows out there when you can.

There aren't enough beef cattle around here to use up the marginal unharvested corn but that may be the best use for much of it.

Good luck.

Jim
