Subject: best way to paint cornhead

Looking to repaint my 1083 while i have it torn apart. I tried it with some success with an airless cordless graco paint sprayer this afternoon. HOwever its hard to keep the paint from spotting and i'm not having a very good finish with this method. I don't do much painting, i'm not an expert and it doesn't need to be a collectors finish. Just something to brighten up the steel parts and keep them from rusting. I'm looking for a finish that looks decent from 5ft or so. Is there a cheaper air gun that would work for this? Might use it to paint other items just wouldn't be much each year and nothing that needs to have a super nice job.

Any ideas on brightening the poly up?
