Ottawa Valley, Eastern Ontario | I'm just a small time guy with a 100 acres that is all in beans this year. I try to read as much about marketing as I can and enjoy the comments that are posted here on Market talk. I am trying to improve my marketing skills and I currently have approx 60-70% of this year's bean crop sold at an average price of $12.80/bushel. How can I find out how I am doing compared to others in this part of the world? Is there a website that has average selling prices? I don't have any storage and my combining is custom done so when the combine shows up there has to be a place for the crop to go. I kinda like Maizeing's comment about the plate of cookies and grabbing a few when they go by or the comment from one Ontario trader about making sure that you get on a price boat before it sails and don't wait for the lower price boat to come along. Suggestions?
