Huron county Ontario Canada | I need some help here guys.
I am pumping (or trying to anyway) liquid dairy manure with chopped straw bedding through a 6" plastic pipe from the barn to the outside liquid pit. It has to pump about 60 feet. The pit in the barn is about 7 x 8 x 18 feet and holds roughly 7000 gallons. All the parlour washwater goes into this pit as well as the manure from the scrap alleys.
I have a 10 hp electric manure pump which agitates via a small door on the side of the impeller housing right on the floor level. The problem is that I can't get the solids on top to stir at all. Then the pump will pump out the liquid and I am left with more solids which I can't keep doing for obvious reasons.
I am looking into options for different pumps but I don't know what agitates the best when the solids are at the top.
Do I need a pump that has a prop on the bottom?
Do I need to have an agitating nozzle higher up?
Do I need more than one agitating nozzle?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks
