| In reference to the post below, “Preventable accident claimed life of another farmer” I posted some pictures here of the safety kit to block the bed up when working under it. A kit similar to this one was included in every bed I mounted on trucks after the mid 1970s. I did not build these kits from scratch. They were included with the hoist, but something similar could easily be built. What can’t be seen from these pictures is a peg that is in the bottom saddle where the brace sits. This keeps it from sliding out from under the bed as it comes down. There is one of these safety braces on each side.
