| Until the third week of January the Brazil exported 2.03 million tons of maize grain, according to the Ministry of development, industry and foreign trade (MDIC).
The daily average shipped was 156.8 million tons, 12.3 percent more than the daily average recorded in December 2012.
Compared to January last year, the volume of maize shipped per day increased 307.3%.
After the first week of slow pace, exports took off in the second and third weeks of the month.
If this rate continues, it is expected that the Brazilian exports are close to 3.5 million tons in January, 25.3 percent more than last December.
Heated exports give support to market corn prices.
