Ontario, Canada | Just wondering, what ppl have done around their operations to make things better for working and for animals. I mean details that after you did them, you thought, I should've done that years ago.
We try to make sure we hang all our gates so they don't drag on the gound or in manure, makes life, dealing with cows everyday alot easier. Our vet once said that he could count on one hand the gates he'd seen that didn't touch the ground. That gave me the inspiration.
We also started using pistol grip syringes a few years ago, so much nicer when processing large groups, I'd never be without one now. Just set the cc's and go.
Lastly, we started to put bicarb in our chop for the calves, mainly as insurance. You can buy alot of bags of bicarb for the price of loosing a good calf to bloat.
The devil's in the details, as the saying goes. Just wondering what others do as small efforts towards making things easier.... | |
