just a bit SE of St Paul MN | I read a lot in other posts about how fund money or speculators are behind a big price move. I think that there are 2 very different classifications of spec money out there. One category is the fund managers that are real people and make trading decisions based on the fundamental inputs that they see. The second category is the computer driven (black box) system that uses no input from human beings and really doesn't care about the fundamentals. My belief is that the fund managers are now a very small portion of the spec money and that the computer based systems are the ones pushing the markets in a direction. It is very easy to see the algorithms at work, and in my opinion is making it harder for the market to be orderly and to truely show price discovery. |
