southcentral nebraska | We just got done disking a couple fields . They were so dry we had problems getting the disk to go in the ground so we drove slower and had to disk a second time . I thought it was bad in august but it is worse now. We don't have to worry about losing any more moisture because there is nothing left to lose. Thats why we went ahead and disked twice. Usually we will see large clods when we are working the ground too wet, but now we have softball size boulders that are from dryness. I think if we had a normal winter from now on , we will still be way short of adequate moisture to get a stand of corn next spring. Subsoil is as dry as the top . We are in trouble here . | |
