Subject: NPE vs. Spot

Appomattox/Fredericksburg, VA
Looking for some input on this. I took a load of beans to the elevator that I put on No Price Established. This was last week I can't remember the exact day. I called a couple days later when the market was down 40 or so cents and wanted to sell the load at the spot price which was $14.01 I believe. I was told I couldn't price it on the spot it had to be sold on the open market which was $13.59. Why? If I took a load of beans that day I would have received $14.01. My beans were already down there, heck probably already on a barge. I guess it is just a learning experience. Can anybody verify this or explain a little bit why it is this way? If I had known this I would have just left them on the trailer as it was the last load of the season.
