NW Iowa | I've been raising bottle calves the last 3 years and have always traded labor for the corn that I feed them. Well this years I was able to get 8 acres to put corn on. The plan was to keep the corn off of that to feed next years calves. Well with the way Mother Nature is letting us know who is in charge, I was wondering how small of calves can you feed silage too? Also was thinking about keeping a couple of heifers back out of this batch. Am thinking that in a few months bred heifers and cows will for really expensive, maybe I'm wrong, who knows. After talking it over with a couple of people they think that I should just roll everything this year and maybe buy something back later. Just wondering what others opinions are?? Thanks | |
