Windrowing 2388 & spreading chaff???

Anyone ever figure out a way to keep your row from wheat or barley and still spread the chaff? Thinking of taking our chaff spreader off our 1680 and removing the rear pan on our 2388 and trying to tuck it up in there. Any other ways?
