Subject: Power Wash before painting?

Kentucky

Need to paint the soffet and trim on my Mom's house. Some areas are dirty from birds etc. snd some paint is pealing. Soffet appears to be plywood. Can I pressure wash it as preperation instead of hand washing and scraping?
