Culbertson, MT | 3rd generation Lions Club member. I joined up in '94 and Grandpa, Dad and I were together in the club until Grandpa died in '99, and dad in '05. I was thinking on this as I helped clean up the cemetary with the guys (an annual club project).

| I ,and a few of my friends joined our local lions about 5 yrs ago.
At our last meeting we gave out checks totaling $2,000 to our local fire dept. and emergency responders. Those kind of activities make me feel good inside.
We raise about 3,000 to 5,000 each year for people in need. |

wife belongs to local Lion's club and Friends of Library group in our town of 1100...she also helped put together a group that provided a meal-stop for WHO tractor ride last June...funds were used to build a new city sign at edge of town and new playground equipment in park |

Kingston,Mi | I have been a charter Lion for nearly 30 years and before that I was in our J.C. chapter (exhusted out twice because of age). Have been to 2 international Lions Club conventions; Philadelphia and Birmingham England with She Who Must Be Obeyed when she was district governor. Vision services of course is a large part of our mission locally along with special needs that arise in our small village. We are asked occasionally to run rafffles for the fire dept. (they are a part of the village government and by Michigan Law are not allowed to obtain a raffle license). We own and loan out 3 low vision readers to those who can benefit from their use.
Edit: When we had a J.C. chapter, the chapter raised money to build the "welcome to Kingston" signs that are on the four entrances to town, I built them in my workshop and together as J.C.'s we put them up. Now that the J.C.'s are gone, the Lions club has taken over the permitting and maintance of the signs.
