Subject: Paraquat on Beans and Shattering

What causes soybeans to shatter? We planted Southern States 5.2 maturity (forgot var.) and they shattered something terrible.

Next question. I have 250 acres of Croplan 5555 and they look average for the season we had. I killed the wheat crop with roundup after the freeze and drilled the beans. The bottoms are almost mature and the hills are still green with yellowing leaves. Do I need to apply Paraquat to the green spots? Or just wait until everything is mature. I am thinking about harvesting the bottoms and waiting on the rest and possibly applying Paraquat.

Located in north Alabama.
