Subject: Silage Bunker

We are planning on putting up a bunker or bag pad. Currently have been using bags. We only need about 1000 ton of haylage in a bunker and plan on making all 4 crops and would be putting them in one bunker. Just wondering how it works for covering and un covering the bunker for each crop. If it is a pain in the butt which i am sure it is. Or if you get more spoilage from having it open for a day each time. Just wondering before we spend the money on putting one up. Really just hoping to stick with one bunker and save some money. Also thought since we are just feeding hiefiers, if we could just put a layer of corn silage on top of the haylage and mix it in as we feed it. Wouldn't be as consistent of a mix as having 2 separate bunkers or bags but just wondering if anyone has tried that.

Thanks for any input
