Subject: Acceptable conception rate for ewe lambs

Mount Elgin, Ontario
We are a relatively small sheep operation with 100 ewe lambs that have been exposed to two texel rams for three heat cycles. What can be considered a successfull conception rate ? We ultrasound checked them on Saturday to confirm if they where pregnant or not, with 89% or 89 ewes pregnant. I feel the breeding to be a success considering the ewes relatively young right at 8 months at breeding. We hope to start lambing on April 20, I'm a little nervous yet very excited.

Thanks
Neil
