So. IL | Had the local electric coop out looking at installing power to the house we plan to build today, and was shocked at how expensive underground service is. Im 240 foot from their pole, and the cost to dig and burry 240 foot and install a transformer is $6500 over the price of above ground service. Above ground service is free. Does it really cost that much to burry the wire? They still got to provide a new transformer either way. I was thinking less maintence on their part by going underground and not having the pole/storm issue down the road? | |
