Watkinsville, Ga. | I have an interesting problem with several of the light switches in my house. In my living room, there is a switch for the lights on either side of the room - two switches total and either one will (should) operate the lights. I believe this constitutes a "three-way" switch. The problem is that if one switch is in the "up" or "down" position (I'm not sure which), the other switch won't work - actually, I have to move the other switch, or "balance" it in the exact middle of "up" or "down" in order to turn the lights off. What's up? can someone explain a three way switch to me and how to fix this problem? I have two light circuits in my house that have this problem. I also have a set of lights that can be controlled by three switches and this circuit has the same problem. The house is only 4 yrs. old so I am assuming I'm the victim of sub-standard wiring but I don't know how to fix it and I'm to proud (poor) to call an electrician.
Thanks,
