Subject: house water well pressure setting?

Driftless SW Wisconsin

The gage at my well indicates the pump comes on at about 25 psi and goes off at 40 psi. It has been in this range for years.  It seems like the pressure is much higher than that however at the shower and sinks. This also feeds the cattle waterers and they seem to have very high pressure. I am going to buy a second gage and install it in the house somewhere to check the well gage.

Question: What is a good well pressure tank setting range that maintains enough water but doesn't wear out the pump prematurely?
