Southeast South Dakota | I went out with the silage cutter and chopped up some green stalks/husks/leaves just after combining.....beautiful stuff, wet green, BUT the cow herd (5 bred heifers,2 cows) don't like it - how long does it take them to adjust to the new feed? they stand and bawl and eat but every time they see u they bawl like they want something different....
of course for the past 3 months we have been hauling them fresh cut something or other, so it is a change.....
the 24 hour old alfalfa delivered in front of them is their favorite - and they are very picky.
