Subject: Advisability of just air-drying--------

Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577

Hand-shelled corn is testing 18-20%.

Coming out of the combine at 28%.

Would all of the "extra foliage"  (some of the uneducated in the group would call them "weeds") in the corn this year----------being still green and juicy------------ add that much moisture??

I think so..............but the question is...........would merely air-drying that corn, as compared to putting heat to it..........get rid of that apparent-surface moisture within a day or two?

Hate to hold the works up for a frost to dry the weeds, if I can remedy the situation with merely electricity.

**** And  ********

I cannot remember combining corn when it came out of the combine testing over 22-23%--------just lucky with the timing, I guess----------- but does that high moisture 28% corn typically feel really hot?

Thanks.
