Subject: Burn down partial failure

Michigan - Saginaw County
A 40 acre fallow field (10 years) was burned down with glypho 32 oz./ac and 2-4D 8 oz/ac... Two weeks later it was chiseled... You never saw such a mess of sod chunks and pillows in areas where the burn down was not completely effective in killing the sod... Now I'm trying to rectify it with a disc harrow but the sod chunks are so tough the disc mostly rides up on top and pushes them around... I am concerned that the sod chunks will make planting a nightmare next spring...

Any suggestion as to what to use for a second burn down? Perhaps glypho again with an older herbicide that works in the soil for over the winter to prevent the sod from living through to spring? Corn is planned for next year...
