SEON | A landlord paid me a visit yesterday. We bale 60 acres of hay ground and pay him by the ton. Some of it is getting pretty played out and he has decided he's going to rent out the 60 acres for next year. I told him we will rent so that part is done.
I was planning to put it into wheat next fall, but now my schedule is compressed a year. Normally I would plow down in early August, then disk late August, plant buckwheat Sept 1, Drill wheat Sept 15. Has anyone tried to offset disk sod, wait a couple of weeks then drill wheat? Currently it's an even mix of alfalfa, grass and weeds.
This ground is certified organic so I'd rather not burn it down if I don't have to. | |
