mascoutah, IL | Just got back from vacation for a week. Looking at a few fields here before dark and we are in real trouble. Tough dirt has scattered pollination. Better dirt pollinated fine but is moving along way to fast. Last field I looked at is at almost 50% dent and just finished pollination about 10-14 days ago. Gonna be some pretty small kernals. I'm usually pretty optimistic with the corn crop but this looks like hell. Guess I should have saved money on the fungicide because this will not make insurance levels. I'm with bugkiller, at this point it doesn't matter what happens with the corn if you have insurance. 5 year average here is around 200bpa, this might make 130 if were lucky. Haven't had any rain in almost a month and way too much before that. Sorry about the rant, I'm sure there are many worse off, just telling you what Im seeing in my area ( St. Clair County, IL ) | |
