Subject: It's getting rough in Missouri

NE MO & W IL
I knew it was getting bad driving by my corn on gumbo this week, but didn't realize how bad it was until I started walking fields. Although the outer rows don't look great, it's nothing compared to the middle where the temperature is 20 degrees higher. This particular field looked tremendous going into tassel, but had been running on empty for several weeks prior. The last 10 days of heat with absolutely no soil moisture has just cooked it. Most ears have aborted 1/3 to 1/2 down or some are aborting all the way down a particular side. Silt loam is holding its own, but is starting to look stressed too. I know Iowa and and a lot of Illinois look good, but this heat is reducing this crop daily everywhere. Can the I states make up for all the rest of us??? We'll see. :)

Oh, this is mississippi river bottoms, St. Charles county. Most of my neighbors look better, I just farm the gumbo farm nobody else wants. LOL. What does the rest of missouri look like guys?
