Subject: New Holland H8060 windrower needs saddle tanks for fuel...

East Central, Nebraska
I just got a 8060 and am impressed with all the things new holland has done to make a better machine from the old HW series but I cannot believe the fuel that i am using. I have cut about 300 acres and it is figuring out to be about .8 gallons an acre. Is this normal. My last windrower was a HW340 and i would say that was about half the fuel usage. This one is should be very comparable in horsepower and the head on it is the same as my last one 15 foot and some change. $2.50 per acre is nuts. Is their something wrong??? It is a used machine, about 300 hours. I demoed a new John Deere and i couldn't believe the fuel it used. this is way worst. The productivity is double or better than a sickle head but I never used to use this kind of fuel. Does anyone have one of these that figures out what it is using? It just doesn't seem right.
