Subject: Striptill vs. Coventional COC carbon cycling

Central Iowa
I am extremely interested in striptill but the COC aspect is difficult for me to commit to. A big issue with COC is the carbon tie-up of N early season. I am wondering for guys who have tried both what differences you see for N tie-up between conventional till where you bury the residue and striptill where you leave it on top. It would seem logical that leaving residue on top would lengthen the time period for breakdown and mineralization but I am not sure. I am starting to think banding NPK even under conventional till may have merit in a COC situation. It's such a psychological transition leaving all the residue on top but it seems the clean zone combined with banding fertility could outweigh the negatives of leaving all that residue on top.
