Ohio | Yesterday, we were applying anhydrous ammonia and heard a loud bang, temperature on tractor almost instantly went to hot so we quickly shut things down. Found the problem, cranshaft broke right off were it comes out of the block with the pulley attached. Did not seem to really hurt anything upfront, other than bending the tip of one of the fan blades. We let things cool off to finish working some ground with one of the other tractors, started it up, folded everything up, unhooked and parked it for the spring. Luckily, this is the last farm we have to finish up on. We will have to bring the tractor home and replace the crank. Any ideas on cost, or where to look for another? Also, any reasoning as to why it failed like it did. Looks like a fresh break. | |
